after a short break from craft making, i decided to make a cake for my dad's birthday we just celebrated in nyc this past weekend. i got the recipe from bakerella, and just halved the 12 layer cake recipe she used to make transporting the cake easier.
then i put the glaze on, which didnt solidify that well cause i think i left out some butter, but it still made it through a megabus trip to manhattan.
i also added another regular frosting layer to make it more appealing, like bakerella suggested.
so nyc was tyte, my dad wore a cape around manhattan on friday, we saw an artists studio and ate some really good pizza from mariella's [apparently oprahs pick in nyc].
got to go to the moma also. martin kippenberger had a new installation up that was interesting but i liked nan goldin's slideshow "the ballad of sexual dependency" the most. it just chronicled her life in the lower east side during the 1970s. it got a little intense with some slides of relationship abuse but gave a good picture of the "new york counterculture" during that time.
i just made these snowday curtains out of fabric i got at gift and thrift for like $1. getting fabric at thrift stores is a really good deal and i just kind of do it whenever i have time to go thrifting. it collects up and then sometimes i can think of a way to use it!
i wanna graduate!
